In an exciting development, Tesla is preparing to make its mark in India as the company’s executives, including supply chain officials, meet with top Indian officials. The discussions revolve around Tesla’s revived talks with India, as the company proposes the establishment of a new electric vehicle (EV) plant. The plant is intended to cater to both domestic sales and exports. Notably, Tesla is also looking to expand its supply chain beyond China, seeking to diversify its manufacturing and sourcing capabilities. This move comes after the EV maker temporarily shelved its India plans last year, during which it sought lower import taxes. However, India has expressed opposition to the import of Tesla cars and instead wants the company to assemble vehicles from completely knocked-down (CKD) units. Undeterred by these challenges, Tesla aims to expand its supply base in India, demonstrating its determination to penetrate the promising Indian market.
